Barun Pani

Barun Kumar Pani, 61, was born January 16, 1958, in the village of Chakradharpur, India. He studied for his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the Regional Engineering College Rourkela and received his master’s degree at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

Barun was the beloved husband and best friend of his wife, Rita Agrawal. They were married on November 16, 1987 in India and moved to New York City together in 1988 to work as software engineers. Barun’s daughter, Monica Pani, was born in 1991. His son, Satwik Pani, was born in 1999. Barun and his family moved many times around the United States before settling down in Mississippi, where they have lived for the past 22 years.

Barun fostered a lifelong love for music, writing, history, and philosophy. He left his family and friends many writings and recordings to treasure. His unquenchable optimism, generosity, thoughtfulness, and kindness will be remembered by all.

Barun passed away on October 10, 2019. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Rita Agrawal, his daughter, Monica Pani, his son, Satwik Pani, four brothers, and four sisters.
