Billy Van Cooper, 85, died Sunday, June 3, 2018. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 and resume on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am chapel service at Breeland Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Canton Cemetery.
Mr. Cooper was Assistant Superintendent for Canton Public Schools and served as the first Headmaster for Tri County Academy. He was also Headmaster, head football coach and teacher at Canton Academy. He served as Chancery Clerk for Madison County for 18 years. Most recently he was manager for Cheer Inc.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Canton.
He was preceded in death by: wife, Katherine (Kate) Cooper; mother, Addie Mae Lindsley Cooper; and father Gale R. Cooper.
Survivors include: sons, Mike Cooper and wife Joy of Madison and Tim Cooper of Canton; daughter, Beverly Smith and husband David of Independence, KY; grandchildren, Chad and Tate Lipscomb, Morgan Smith, Mickie Young, Jessica, Jonathan, and Jordan Cooper, and Jeremy Partridge; 7 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and devoted friend and caretaker, Dr. Barbara Ricks and her grandson, Elijah.
