Dalin Lomax Obituary

Dalin Lomax, 14, passed away at Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson, Miss., on February 11, 2018, surrounded by a crowd of loving family and friends. Throughout his life, Dalin’s kind-heartedness and fun-loving spirit resonated among everyone he encountered, and he always wore an infectious smile, regardless of circumstance.

Dalin attended Pisgah Junior High and lived in Sandhill Miss., with his mom, brother Devin, and his “granny” and “granddaddy.” He was always quick to help around the house, but enjoyed cooking and gardening more than other chores. Most nights, he helped prepare dinner; hamburgers were his specialty on the grill. Dalin loved going to sporting events with them and his uncle Lance, as well as playing basketball in the front yard and hanging out with Devin and their friends. His mom made sure he never missed out when Dalin wanted to do something fun, and he was always appreciative.

Dalin was also excited for weekend visits with his dad, brother Trevor, and “Papa” and “Granny Jewel” at “the farm” in Camden, as well as their frequent family vacations and gatherings with relatives. At least once a week, he also enjoyed staying at his uncle Lance and Lauren’s house. Alabama fishing trips with his uncle Philip were a summer highlight, and hunting excursions with his uncles, cousins and friends were another of his favorite activities—especially deer hunts, turkey hunts, and the annual New Year’s squirrel hunt. Dalin often bragged on his cousin Nicholas, and watched him play football every chance he had. His cousin Katie affectionately nicknamed him “little Dalin,” and will always remember him as her baby brother.

Dalin’s heart was filled with only love, and he showed this as a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to many. He is survived by mother Natasha Lomax of Sand Hill, Miss.; father, Tim Cauthen, of Camden Miss.; brothers Devin Lomax and Trevor Cauthen; maternal grandparents Dale and Linda Lomax; paternal grandparents Joe and Jewel Cauthen; aunts and uncles Lance Lomax and Lauren Longo, Nick and Nancy Thompson, Marty and Jeannine Cauthen, Cheryl Hopper, Philip and Carol Cauthen, and cousins Joseph Cauthen, Bobby Hopper, Will Hopper, Nicholas Thompson and Katie Cauthen; and many loyal friends.

Visitation will be held in Dalin’s honor at Breeland Funeral Home in Canton, Miss. on Saturday, February 17, at 10:30 a.m. with Funeral Services following directly after, at 1 p.m. A graveside service will be held for family and close friends afterwards, at Shiloh Cemetery in Camden Miss.
