Virginia S. Phillips

Virginia Sigrest Phillips, lovingly known as Jenny Lou, was called home by her Heavenly Father Nov. 23rd, 2017. She was born March 5th 1940.  Visitation will be Thursday Nov. 30th from 1:00-2:00 PM at Breeland Funeral Home with chapel service beginning at 2:00.

Virginia was a Flora native who lived in Canton from 1962 until she and her husband Buck moved back to “the old family place” outside of Flora in 1988. While in Canton she was an active member of First United Methodist Church, a girl scout leader, a court reporter, loving wife and mother. Her greatest joy was her family, and she also enjoyed spending time at the beach, going antiquing, being an amateur horticulturalist, and watching MSU football. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Stuart Shelby Smith, as well as her parents Hazel Thompson and E. A. Sigrest, Jr.

Survivors include husband of 56 years Raiford “Buck” Phillips; daughters Rai Smith and Clark; Georgia Luann Carter and Kip Banes; Margaret Welch and Kevin.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Aaron Chandler and wife Angela; Ryan Chandler; Patrick Smith; Daniel Smith; Austin Welch and wife Carley; Evan Welch; and Gates Welch; great grandchildren Ava Chandler; Alice Chandler; Lilyana Welch; and Cash Welch. Other survivors are her brother Earnest Sigrest lll, sisters Jane Quattlebaum, Judy Bradshaw, and Jackie Rankin.
