Walter Ray Thompson Jr., 74, died on February 4, 2018 surrounded by close friends, family, his wife of 27 years, Lisa Stockman Thompson, and his loyal companion, Sammie.
Terray, as he was known to friends and family, was born in Canton, Mississippi on March 10, 1943. Growing up in Canton he was a member of the First Baptist Church and graduated from Canton High School where he was captain of the football team and Mr. CHS. He attended Mississippi State University where he received his degree in marketing and finance. Terray was a lifelong member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
After raising his family in Denham Springs, Louisiana, and working in Dallas for several years, Terray moved back to Mississippi in 1987. He spent the remainder of his career as a home builder in the Madison County area where he met his wife, Lisa. They were married in 1991 and enjoyed a successful Design-Build business until he retired in 2010.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Lisa, his three children, Walter Ray Thompson III of Madison, MS, Karin Thompson Burnett (Kevin) of Denham Springs, LA, and Melinda Thompson Territo (Barry) of Denham Springs, and grandchildren Walt and McKenzie Thompson, Eden Burnett, and Cade, Kyle, Ashlyn, and Alexa Territo.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Ray Thompson, and Lillian Tucker "Tuckie" Thompson and his sister, Katherine Thompson Robb.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00, Tuesday, February 6th at Breeland Funeral Home, Canton, MS
Services will be held at 11:00 with visitation beginning at 10:00 Wednesday, February 7th at Broadmoor Baptist Church, Madison, MS.
