Carol Sue (Paul) McLean

March 18, 1944 ~ June 26, 2024 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Carol McLean Obituary

On Wednesday, June 26, 2024 the Lord called Carol Sue McLean home. She passed peacefully in her sleep. 

She was born Carol Sue Paul to Reo Allen Paul and Thelma Bernice Paul (née LaGrone) March 18, 1944 in Carthage, TX. She was the middle of three daughters, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Carol Sue was raised in and had deep ties to Carthage, TX but moving frequently after marriage due to her husband Charles’ work. They finally settled in Canton, MS after retirement to be close to family and grandchildren. She loved her family, devoting great time and effort to her children and grandchildren when she was still able. Carol Sue also loved animals, especially dogs. She was raised as and remained a Baptist her entire life.

She met her husband Charles Elbert McLean in high school and married after graduation until he preceded her in death in 2021. Her older sister Virginia Woods (née Paul) passed in 2022 and her brother-in-law John Larry “Pete” Woods passed in 2006.

Carol Sue is survived by her younger sister Fanny Mae “Kate” Duke (née Litton) of Lewisville, TX. She is  also survived by her sons Charles Edward McLean and Michael Cooper McLean. Through Charles Edward her surviving family includes his wife Mary Elizabeth McLean (née Kraft), two grandsons, Kraft Samuel McLean and Joseph Charles McLean as well as Kraft’s wife, Madeline McLean (née Mabus). Carol Sue is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family members from Texas to Florida.

There will be a graveside service for her at Canton Cemetery on Monday, July 1, 2024 beginning at 11:00 am. She will be interred next to her husband. Breeland Funeral Home will be handling the service which will be officiated by Nolan Whitehead.

Carol Sue’s family would also like to extend its warmest thanks to the staff and other patients at The Seasons assisted living facility in Canton, MS. Carol Sue’s final years were made more comfortable despite her health decline due to their kindness, care and compassion. The quality of her final years was improved greatly due to the care she received at The Seasons.
