Daisy Guthrie Obituary

Daisy Ann Manus Guthrie, born August 6, 1941, passed away at her home on October 7, 2022, after battling dementia for several years. She was surrounded by family and caregivers that day as she departed this life.

Daisy was a homemaker, who loved gardening, cooking, quilting, and taking care of her family. She was a member of the Virlilia Homemaker’s 4-H Club for over 30 years. One of her favorite hobbies was making quilts and donating supplies to the Ronald McDonald House in Jackson, MS. She also loved canning fruits and vegetables and won many blue ribbons at the MS State Fair each year.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Shelton and Sarah Manus, her brothers; John, Bobby, and C.J. Manus; her sisters Joyce Boothe, Martha Riley and one child; Robert Alan Guthrie.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Robert Guthrie of Canton, one daughter Sarah Boone (Johnny) of Canton, Sisters Doris Polley (Dennis) of Fort Worth, TX. Gladys Ehrhardt (Jerry) of Horn Lake, MS. and Bonnie Hillstrom (Mickey) of Horn Lake, MS.

A special thanks to her caregivers Minnie Rushing and Cassandra Morment and the staff at Compassus Hospice who took care of Daisy in her last years of life.

Visitation will be at Breeland Funeral Home on October 11, 2022 from 10-11 am, with service immediately following at the chapel at 11:00 am. Burial and graveside service will be at Memorial Gardens at 3:00 pm in Clarksdale, MS.
