Emma Mae Smith

Emma Mae Smith, 76, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Hazlehurst, MS on February 12, 1941 to R. J. and Emma Lee Delaney, Emma attended Brookhaven High School where she met the love of her life, Haywood Smith.  They spent their lives dedicated to family and building a successful business.  Emma found joy in serving others, cooking, and being a devoted mother and grandmother.  She was a positive light who could always be found with a smile on her face and will be missed dearly.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Canton, MS.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by daughter, Shelley Smith.

Survivors include: daughter, Sherrie Murphy; brother, Jerald Delaney (Jane); grandchildren, John Murphy, Sara Helms, and Emmaline Murphy; and great grandchildren, Wilson Helms, Whitten Murphy, and Knox Murphy.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 10:00 am – 11:30 am at Breeland Funeral Home in Canton, MS.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church in Hazlehurst, MS with burial in the church cemetery.
