Ginger Thornton passed away peacefully at home on August 19, 2025.
She was born on September 19, 1945, to Howard and Alice Louise Tucker. Ginger’s greatest joy in life was her family, whom she loved deeply. To her grandchildren, their spouses, great-grandchildren, and so many friends, she was lovingly known as “Meme.” Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by those she loved.
Ginger was born in West Point, MS and later made her home in Canton, MS, where she spent most of her adult life. She married Dennis Thornton, and together they built a life filled with faith, love, and friendship. In 2012, Ginger retired from Vertex Aerospace after twenty-five years of service. During her time there, she formed many lasting friendships that became like family.
She will be remembered for her bright spirit, her generous heart, and the way she welcomed everyone she met with love.
Ginger is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Alice Louise Tucker; her husband, Dennis Thornton; her daughter, Denise Thornton; her brother, Dr. Frank Howard Tucker, Jr.; and her former husband, William Ray “Brookie” Sigh.
She is survived by her son, Billy Ray Sigh; her daughter, Louise “Weezie” Horn; her grandchildren, Lauren Hunt (Matthew), Will Sigh (Lauren), Rachel Wooten (Jacob), and Tucker Sigh (Presley); her sister, Francis Olander; and five great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.
Her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Breeland Funeral Home, Friday August 22 from 1:00 until the 2:30 graveside service at the Canton Cemetery.
