Herbert Ray Rasnick, Jr. died in the early morning of Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at St. Dominic Hospital with his daughter, Krystal and best friend, Joey Gregory at his side.
Ray was born March 21, 1947 in Pikeville, Kentucky to Herbert Ray Rasnick, Sr. and Maxine McComas Rasnick. He and his many siblings made the most of their early lives with little spending money between them, an upbringing that would have a great impact on his future personality.
Ray graduated high school and enlisted in the Marine Corps, fighting in Vietnam as a part of the Ugly Angels. He served for three years before being honorably discharged and returning to America, learning carpentry and having two children with Sandra Dykes, Krystal and Jimmy Rasnick.
Even through constant hardships and complications, Ray served any community he found himself in and raised his children to the best of his ability.
Ray embodied a stoic parenting role adeptly handling responsibility from childhood all the way to his passing. He was strong and hardy, firmly conquering and problem within himself and once again providing for his grandchildren later in life.
Ray was dependable, strong, and wise. An anchor of stability to his family and a natural caregiver. He always gave, be that in direct support or in the lessons he taught.
Ray is survived by two children; Krystal Rasnick and Jimmy Rasnick; two grandchildren; Damion Rasnick and Alaya Jordan; and many friends and family that he improved the lives of by always being there.
He will be remembered for what he was, a rock that withstood everything, a light in darkness, and a man that encouraged everyone in his life through trials and triumphs.
