Howard Crisler Hammack, 82, longtime resident of Canton, died January 11, 2021, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Graveside services will be held at the Canton Cemetery January 13 at 11:00am.
Crisler was born July 23, 1938 to the late Marion Columbus Hammack and Pansy Bates Hammack. He graduated from MSU with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduating college, he was commissioned into the U.S. Army, serving as an engineer with the Army Medical Service Corps during the Vietnam War, and achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Following active duty, he began his engineering career with Jackson Stone Company. He later formed his own business, Hammack Enterprises. Crisler was a faithful member and deacon at First Baptist Church, Canton. He was a master woodworker and for many years prior to his illness exhibited at the Canton Flea Market.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Marion Walter Hammack.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathy Richey Hammack; children Dr. Stephen Hammack (Beth) of Madison and Jill Hammack McLeod (Todd) of Jackson; grandchildren Rachel, Caroline, and Matthew Hammack, and Sparrow McLeod; sister, Linda Reedy (Bill) of Canton, and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
