Frances was born in Canton on November 16, 1921, one of ten children born to Will and Eleanor Lutz. She grew up on the family farm and was a faithful and lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends.
“Franny/Aunt Frances” graduated from Canton High School and then from the Mississippi State College for Women in 1944. After graduation, she joined the workforce and became the first female sales executive for Delta Airlines. In fact, she retired from what she lovingly called, ‘My Delta” after 40 years of service. Frances traveled the world, having wonderful adventures, before retiring and returning home to Canton. During retirement, she graciously took care of her sister, Polly, and loved tending the church grounds. She was an avid gardener, truly had a green thumb, and immensely enjoyed the outdoors. She loved her Church, her nieces and nephews, and her dogs.
Frances is survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Lutz of Vaughan, MS and nephews and nieces: Stephen Lutz (Cathy), Jody Hill (Judy), Bill Lutz (Betty), Mike Lutz (Randi), Anne Johnson (Ronnie), Pat White (Billy), Peggy Lutz, William Lutz, Joe Lutz (Emily), Tommy Lutz, Gus Lutz (Jill), Kate Smith (Sam), and many more nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 238 East Center Street, Canton, MS 39046 or to Catholic Charities, 650 East River place, Jackson, MS 39202.
