Jean Vaughan, 79, of Vaughan, MS passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 22, 2020. Jean was born on April 22, 1941 in Canton, MS to Eleanor and John Wesley Hale, Jr.. Her early years were spent in her beloved hometown of Canton, where she enjoyed many happy days with what became lifelong friends and attended Canton High School. After high school, she went on to attend Ole Miss and was a member of the Tri-Delta Sorority. She later was employed at Delta Air Lines when she met the love of her life, Tommy Vaughan. Jean and Tommy were married on January 16, 1964, a wonderful marriage that lasted 56 years. Thirty-Five of those years were spent building their family and life in Pickens, MS. It was here that she thrived as a homemaker and wife. Many days were spent cooking amazing meals, gardening and raising her beloved son, Hugh. Some years later, they made their way back to the homeplace in Vaughan, MS. She and Tommy remained members of St. Matthews Methodist Church in Madison for 18 years. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy Vaughan, Sr.; son, Hugh (Kim); grandson, Tommy Vaughan III; granddaughters, Jessica Myers (Devin) and Brittany Cook (Dillon); great grandchildren, Courtney, Carson, and Skylar; her siblings, Sharon Ann Mann (Cappy) and Tim Hale (Libby). She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John W. Hale III.
Graveside service will be at Blackjack cemetery at 2:00 PM Monday October 26, 2020.
