Jeannie Hicks

Jeannie Hicks, 61, was called to be with the Lord on January 1, 2022. Her visitation is Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00AM at the First United Methodist Church in Canton, Mississippi. Jeannie’s Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1:00PM. Interment will be at the Canton City Cemetery in Canton, Mississippi.

Jeannie was born on March 25, 1960 in Jackson, Mississippi to James Earl Holmes and Hazel Jeanne Holmes. She and her family have been lifelong community members in Canton, Mississippi. She graduated from Canton Academy in 1978 where she proceeded to attend Holmes Community College and later enlisted in the Mississippi Reserves.

Jeannie Hicks was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canton where she exhibited a devout spirit and demonstrated communal leadership through her time singing in the church choir, being a Sunday School teacher, and volunteering throughout the Canton community.

Jeannie Hicks was generous, strong, and most of all loving. She will forever be remembered as a caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her father, James Earl Holmes (2021), and her brother, Danny G. Holmes (2009).

She is survived by her husband, Mike Hicks of Jackson; daughter, Holly Hicks and husband, Marty Glenn of Madison; step-children, Reece Hicks and wife, Drea Edwards, and William Hicks of Madison; grandchild, Kimber Hicks of Madison; mother, Hazel Holmes of Canton; brother, Mac Holmes and wife, Sharon of Gulfport; sister-in-law, Debbie Feigler Holmes of Madison; nephews, Ben Holmes and wife Bonnie Holmes, McKay Holmes, and wife Camie Holmes; and many other nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Canton or the Methodist Children's Home.
