John "Marc" Marcus O'Cain, Sr.

John Marcus “Marc” O’Cain of Canton, MS went home to be with his Lord and savior on Friday, April 28, 2023. He was born April 29, 1972 in Jackson, MS. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Canton, where he served on the security team, and was a member of the the Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association.

Marc was an amazing husband, daddy, papa, son, brother, uncle and friend to all who were blessed to have him in their lives.

He was a 1990 graduate of Benton Academy where he was chosen Most Handsome. He was a former Madison County Deputy. Marc was an extremely talented carpenter and owner of JMO Construction.

To know Marc was to love Marc. He never met a stranger, and always had a smile on his face. His love for his family and God was unconditional. Marc had a heart of gold.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Abigail “Abbie” Louise O’Cain.

He is survived by his wife,  Pamela “Pam” New O’Cain, his children, John Marcus O’Cain, Jr, Hanna Smith (Connor), Bailey Irby (Cole), and Maggie Claire Thomas, and his grandchildren, Maggie Ryan Smith and Miller Smith. His parents, Mike O’Cain (Jeanie), Jennifer Wells (Houston), his sister, Alice Ann Holmes (Matt) and two nieces, Grace Ann Holmes, and Mary Alice Holmes.

A special thank you to the Canton group of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he was an active member. 

Visitation will be Thursday, May 11 from 5:00-7:00 and Friday from 12:00-2:00 with the 2:00 Funeral at First Baptist Church of Canton. Burial will be held at Forrest Grove Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Canton Alcoholics Anonymous Group; 1654 Barnes Road; Canton, MS 39046.
