Kitty Maris, 93, went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 21, 2024. Above all, she cared deeply about her family, church, and friends. Along with Charles, her devoted husband of 65 years, she was the focal point of many family gatherings and valued keeping in touch and making sure that everyone was appreciated and cared for. She was always ready with a helping hand.
She was born in Pelahatchie, Mississippi, and graduated from Pisgah High School and Hinds Community College.
She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, crafts, sewing, cooking, and in her later years, ocean cruising in the Caribbean with her husband. She was an ideal homemaker and knew how to manage projects and make things happen. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canton.
She is survived by daughters, Linda (Jerry) Perez, Margaret (Chuck) Terry; daughter-in-law, Stacy White Maris; grandchildren, Charles W. “Will” Maris III, Katie Hair, Trey (Keri) Perez, Sarah (Matt) Runnels, Katherine (Adam) Horlock, and Laura Terry; great-grandchildren, Amanda Hair, Bella and Maia Perez, and Davis, Lynlee and Mary Claire Runnels. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Druscilla Thompson and Martha Maris.
She was preceded in death by husband, Charles Maris; son, Charles Maris, Jr., parents, William Edward Davis and Annie Lee Lewis Davis, and brother, William E. Davis, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 10:00 am at Breeland Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the Canton Cemetery.
