Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Madge Freiler Noble lived in Clinton, Louisiana, until the age of seven, when she and her parents, John Freiler and Madge Verburg Freiler, moved to Canton, Mississippi. She attended Canton Public Schools where she graduated in 1946. She completed her college curriculum and received her degree in education from MSCW in 1949.
After teaching in Columbus for a year, she married William (Billy) Noble and lived in Camden where she taught English.
In 1951 she and her husband moved to Canton where she taught English, Spanish, Speech, and coached high school debate.
She continued her teaching career until 1970 when she began work in the Madison County Sheriff and Tax Collector’s Office. Earning a Master of Criminal Justice degree from the University of Mississippi, she became a deputy sheriff and worked in law enforcement until 1986 when, after the death of her husband, Sheriff Billy Noble, she retired.
In 1987 she began a new career in ranching and continued to raise cattle on her farm east of Canton until shortly before her death on December 7th, 2025.
Madge Noble was active in civic affairs and her church, Grace Episcopal, where she served on the Vestry and participated in the Church’s numerous activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.B. (Billy) Noble and her son, William B. (Bill) Noble. Jr. and is survived by her daughter Sara (Cindy) Noble Replogle (Bill) and a grandson, William Thomas Battle Noble.
Memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church in Canton.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 6 pm on Wednesday December 10th and Thursday, December 11th from 10am until the 11am funeral service at Grace Episcopal Church. The interment will follow at Canton Cemetery.
