Margaret Buchanan Allen age 87, was born to Hal and Lillie Mae Buchanan on January 21, 1933 in Meridian, Mississippi. She passed away December 15, 2020 in Starkville, Mississippi and will be laid to rest in a graveside service December 18, 2020 in Canton Mississippi beside her husband of 55 years Dr. Tip Allen.
Together they enjoyed being active in their church Altersgate United Methodist, traveling, playing Rook and all things Mississippi State University. GO DAWGS! She delighted in shopping, needle point and talking on the phone. She never met a stranger, young or old.
Margaret earned her master’s degree from Mississippi University for Women and taught elementary school in the Starkville area for more than 30 years. She was loved by her students and she loved each one as her own.
Her greatest joy was her family and friends. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Albert Hal (Bubber) and Miriam Buchanan, nieces and nephews, John Williams, Lettye Ann Williams Rule, Allen Williams, Jan Buchanan Thompson, Mary Margaret Buchanan Speed and Lou Ann Buchanan Henson. Aunt Margaret was loved by numerous great and great, great nieces and nephews and friends.
Margaret's family would like to thank all of those who cared for her during this time. They send a special thank you to Montgomery Gardens Assisted Living in Starkville who took such loving care of her for the past seven years.
In lieu of flowers her family ask that memorials be made to Altersgate UMC or a charity of your choice.
