Margaret Hassin

Margaret Metcalfe Hassin, 72, of Flowood, MS, died December 28, 2024.  She was born Feb. 17, 1952. Visitation will be, Thursday January 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Flowood, with the service following at 11:00 a.m.. 

A native of Canton, Margaret graduated Canton High School and University of Southern Mississippi, where she was a Tri-Delta.  

In 1974, she married Danny Hassin of Yazoo City.   They made their home in Yazoo City, successfully running the family business, Hassin’s on Broadway. Upon Danny’s retirement in 2002, they moved to Flowood, MS, and Margaret embarked on a new career with the MS Department of Environmental Quality.  She retired in 2020.  

Margaret was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church in Flowood, MS.  

Margaret enjoyed traveling and was always up for a trip.  She loved getting together with her friends and family, and was especially proud of her sons and her grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Oren Metcalfe, Jr., and Christine Metcalfe Carsley; her husband of 45 years, Danny Hassin; and her brother, Tom Metcalfe III.  

She is survived by her sons Drew Hassin ( Kimberly) and Matthew Hassin, of Flowood, MS; sister, Rooney Davis (Warren) of Terry; step-brother Dr. Robert T. Carsley (Kris) of Oxford; sister-in-law Lisa Lambert Metcalfe of Madison; and grandchildren Andrew, Atticus, Abigail, and Thomas Hassin,

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church ,  Flowood, MS, or Stewpot Ministries of Jackson, MS.
