Marie B (Blakeney) Tharp

Marie Luke Tharp 91 of Florence, MS  passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday October 11, 2022.'

She was born in Smith County, MS on March 12, 1931 to the late Vardeman Blakeney Sr and Mollie Bryant Blakeney.  

Marie loved to fish, overalls, and the outdoors and up until 7 years ago always had the most beautiful and bountiful garden. She retired from Presto in 1986 when she found out her daughter was expecting to be a stay at home grandma. Her son-in-law and daughter are part of the Punishers LEMC of Shreveport and all the members loved her and made her feel apart as well.  She loved each and everyone of them along with their families.  

Marie's favorite saying when anyone asked her how she was is:  I'm fine as Wine in the Summertime and you can believe she is definitely fine now that she is in loving arms of Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Cecil Luke and Wesley Tharp, grandchildren, Christopher Chad Luke and Crystal Lynn Tripp, great granddaughter, Addison Alexius Tripp, brother, Vardeman Blakeney Jr and sisters, Jackie Nell Craft and Charlene Brownlee. 

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and caregivers Teresa Luke Warren and husband Tom of Florence, MS, Sons, Gary and Michael Runnels (Jenifer) of Magee and Keith Runnels (Kim) of Mize, MS, Ann Lee (Frank) of Philadelphia, MS  Grandchildren, Bobby Tripp (Amber) of Pelahatchie, Tammy Monaco (Matt) of Sebastian, FL, Brandon Warren (Regan) of Hattiesburg,  Gary Runnels Jr of Magee, Jason Runnels of Mize, and Phillip Michael Runnels of Clinton, Elizabeth Lee of Philadelphia, MS, Joanna Calzada of Houston, TX and Jocelyn Heath of Anthes, MI.  Great Grandchildren, Hunter Tripp, Keith Hensley, Cameron Hensley, Memphis Hall all of Pelahatchie, Logan Monaco and Payton Monaco of Sebastian, FL and Rachel Runnels of Braxton, brother Larry Blakeney of Hebron, MS,

sisters, Wondell Graves of Calhoun and Shirley Rogers of Meridian, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 5-7pm at Breeland Funeral Home in Canton.  Funeral Services will be held on Friday October 14, 2022 at 2pm with visitation from 1-2 . Intermittent to follow in the Canton City Cemetary.  Pastor Scotty Smith to Officiant.

Pallbearers are:  Dalton Blakeney, Travis Morris, Kennon Stringer, Matt Youngblood, Zac Martin and David Stauffer.
