Michael Wren Hardy Sr., 83, passed away on March 8, 2026, at his home on Ramrod Key, Florida. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Holland Hardy, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
He was born in Canton, Mississippi, to Alfred W. Hardy Sr. and Margaret Wren Hardy. He graduated from Canton High School and the University of Mississippi. He was a farmer in Madison County, Mississippi, served in the National Guard, and was a Baptist by faith with a close relationship with his God.
Mike lived life to the fullest. He loved adventure and enjoyed sharing it with others. Family was always most important to him, and he also dearly loved his dogs. Scuba diving was one of his great passions for many years, leading to extensive travel and eventually to life in the Florida Keys. Motor home travel was also a big part of his life, allowing him to explore the country and make friends everywhere he went. He spent many summers in Boone, North Carolina, which eventually led to building a home in Bakersville, North Carolina.
Mike’s high school yearbook quote — “Cool cat in the cutting-out Triumph … ladies’ man … merrymaking” — proved to be a fitting description of him throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Holland Hardy; his sons, Michael Hardy (Christi Hardy), John Hardy (Stacey Hardy), and Price Sojourner, whom he considered a son; his grandchildren, Brandon Hardy (Denise Hardy), Wren Patterson (Rush Patterson), Cameron Hardy, Gage Hardy, and John Aidan Hardy; and his great-grandchildren, Daisy Hardy, Gabriel Hardy, Steele Patterson, Holland Patterson, and Stone Patterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Margaret Hardy; his brother, Alfred Hardy Jr.; his sister, Patricia Weathersby and daughter-in-love Christi Hardy.
Visitation will be held at Breeland Funeral Home Friday, April 3 from 1:00 until the 2:00 Memorial Service.
“2 Timothy 4:7–8
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
