Patricia “Gayle” Snowden was born on January 15, 1942, in Canton, MS. She went to her forever home with Jesus on May 25, 2024. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust on the Lord with all of your heart, lean not on your understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. J.P. Everett; mother, Willie Mitchell Frasier Everett; sister, Cynthia Anese Everett; and sister-in-law, Janice Everett. She is survived by her three daughters: Sheila (Rett) Crowder of Flora, MS; Paula (Chip) Williams of Germantown, TN; Judy (Scott) Clark of Richmond, VA; five grandsons: Shane Stokley, Blake (Lauren) Stokley, Ryan (Michelle) Clark, Pierce Williams, and Zachary (Anna) Clark; five granddaughters: Brittany (Adam) Welch, Carlye (Caleb) Edwards, Makenzie Clark, Katie Grace Clark, Rose Crowder; six great grandchildren: Dylan Stokley, Eli Shows, Briggs Welch, Olivia Stokley, Austin Edwards, and Ivy Claire Edwards; her brothers: Rev. Michael Everett of Meridian, MS; Rev. Toby (Janet) Everett of Powell, TN; and Rev. Jim (Janet) Everett of Florence, MS; and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Ms. Snowden was a member of East Heights Baptist Church in Tupelo, MS, from 1989 to 2015, before moving to Johnson City, TN in August, 2015, where she was an active member of First Christian Church. After retiring, she worked at EHBC for 4 years as a ministry assistant and loved doing volunteer mission work. She had traveled to Honduras, Mexico, Bolivia, St. Thomas, Haiti, Amsterdam, and several states in the USA, as well as local missions (Ridgecrest, NC, Conference Center). Her greatest passions were traveling and spending time with her family, especially swimming and playing in the pool, soaking up sun on the beach, and celebrating all their special moments.
Gayle was a retired radiology technologist and radiation oncology therapist. She graduated from high school in Yazoo City, MS in 1960; Radiology School at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS in June 1962; and Radiation Therapy School in 1984 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN.
Gayle worked in Jackson, MS, as Radiology Technologist and Radiation Therapist in Memphis, TN, for St. Jude Research Hospital and The Regional Medical Center before accepting a Chief Radiation Therapy position at North Mississippi Medical Center in September 1989 before retiring in 2001. She then traveled with her work for the next 5 years before retiring completely from her profession.
The celebration of life for Ms. Snowden will be Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Breeland Funeral Home in Canton, MS with the visitation at 1:00 pm and the service at 2 pm. Burial will be in the Canton Cemetery.
