Ray W Henne

Ray W. Henne (95) passed away on March 11, 2023 in his home in Goodman, Mississippi. Born in Bernville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Paul and Edna (LaFollette) Henne.

After high school, Ray joined the navy and was a World War II veteran. In the years immediately following the war, he and his shipmates took part in nuclear testing exercises at Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Knowing that he grew up on a farm, his commanding officer assigned him to take care of the farm animals used to test the bombs’ effects.

Ray, and his wife Frances, raised their six children on a dairy farm near Strausstown, Pennsylvania. Upon retiring, Ray and Frances moved to Mississippi. Ray was predeceased by Frances, his wife of 72 years, and his oldest son, Goody Alan Henne.

Ray is survived by his other children - Andrew Henne, Glenn Henne, Jinx Baney, Steven Henne and Jackie Kerr - their spouses, plus numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
