Rebecca (Sutherland) Davis

Rebecca Sutherland Davis, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on October 14, 1942, in Canton, Mississippi, Rebecca was the oldest daughter of nine children born to Bill and Patsy Sutherland. She lived a rich and meaningful life defined by her devotion to her family, her faith, and the enduring love she shared with those around her.

Rebecca was the cherished wife of Joe Allen Davis, with whom she built a life of 56 beautiful years until his passing. Together, they raised three children: Tina Davis Brown of Orlando, FL, Teresa Davis Thomann of Austin, TX, and the late Joe Allen Davis, Jr., also of Austin, TX. Rebecca’s legacy continues through her seven grandchildren—Roland Davis, Azure Davis, Lauren DeLucena, Courtney Brown, Collin Brown, Hannah Thomann, and Ava Thomann—who brought her immense joy and pride. She also leaves behind seven brothers and sisters, along with many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her warmth and kindness.

A woman of strength and grace, Rebecca was a devout Catholic and a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Parish in Canton, Mississippi. Her faith guided her life, and her love touched everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Tina and Teresa, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she has joined her husband and son in eternal rest, her spirit remains alive in the hearts of her family.

A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception following at the Parish Center. Please join us in the celebration of her life.
