Richard Walker of Madison, MS passed away September 26, 2024 at his residence.
He was born May 12, 1949 in Jackson, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Provine High School. He received a nursing degree from Northeast Mississippi Community College. He later received a nursing anesthetist degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He also received a Bachelors degree from Mississippi State University where he was active in the ROTC. During his time in the military, he was stationed at Ft. Benning Georgia.
“Walker” as he was referred to, was a nurse anesthetist for 45 years before retiring. His career as a nurse anesthetist was spent travelling extensively around the United States.
He is survived by his daughters Melissa Brook Walker and Kelly (Clint) Vanderver, two grand daughters Drew Vanderver and Darcy Vanderver, and his loving ex-wife, Cheryl Godfrey. He is also survived by his brother Jerry (Luan) Walker. He was preceded in death by his son Matthew Glenn Walker and his parents Samuel and Marilyn Inman Walker.
Visitation for Walker will take place Wednesday October 2, 2024 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 1531 Highland Colony Parkway in Madison, Mississippi. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
