Roy Donald Douglas, 92, left his earthly pain behind on Sunday, October 6th and joined his Lord and Savior forever free of suffering. He fought the good fight and won.
He leaves a large loving family who will forever tell "Grandpa" stories amid laughter and tears. In addition to his wife of 31 years, Betty Horne Douglas, he leaves behind two beloved children, Roy Douglas, Jr. (Donna) Annette Driggers (Dennis); four stepchildren, Robert Graves (Linda), Mike Graves (Beverly), Sandy Nicholson (Buddy), Lisa Browning (Tom); fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. All of whom are forever touched by his words of wisdom. He was a professional driver for nearly fifty years before retiring from Yellow Freight. After retiring, he realized a lifelong dream of owning a cattle farm.
He was predeceased by his parents, the Reverends Roy and Loretta Douglas of Doraville, GA, Zeno Douglas and the mother of his children, Emma S. Douglas.
Roy was born in Alma, Georgia on September 2, 1932 and lived most of his life in the Atlanta area. He moved to Mississippi in 1991, but forever remained a Georgia Bulldog.
He and Betty visited 49 of our 50 states, Mexico, and Canada, making memories and friends all along the way.
Visitation will be at Breeland Funeral Home on Friday, October 11th from 5-7pm
There will be a visitation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, October 12th from 10:00-11:00am with the funeral service following at 11:00am.
Interment will take place after the funeral service in the Canton Cemetery.
