Samuel "Sam" Sutherland Goza

     Samuel “Sam” Sutherland Goza, 58, of Canton, MS was called to his eternal home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2021. Visitation is Monday, December 20, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Breeland Funeral Home in Canton, MS. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Canton, MS with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Canton City Cemetery in Canton, MS.

     Sam was born on April 17, 1963 in Canton, MS to the Honorable Robert Goza and Beverly Goza. Sam was a lifelong resident of Canton, MS. Sam graduated from Canton Academy in 1981 and furthered his education at Mississippi State University where he graduated with a Finance degree. He continued his education at the University of Mississippi School of Law and received a juris doctorate in Law in December of 1994. He graduated in the top 25% of his law school class and served on the Prestigious Law Journal. After law school, he returned home to Canton, MS and practiced law at Montgomery Smith-Vaniz and later worked at Copeland, Cook, Taylor, and Bush. He eventually opened his own law firm, The Goza Law Firm, in Canton, MS. He was also a partner in Tyner, Goza, Stacey, and Martin.

     Sam was a former Canton Chamber of Commerce member, Canton Elks Lodge member, and Country Club of Canton board member.

     Sam’s passion in life was his family. He adored his loving wife, Michelle Davis Goza, whom he married on March 14, 1992. Sam cherished his two sons, Cole and Drew and his daughter-in-law Allie Smith. Sam loved his dogs Barkley and Scooter.

     Sam loved playing golf with his friends who he considered family. He was loved by all who knew him and was known for his quick wit and warm smile.

     He was preceded in death by his father the Honorable Robert Goza.

     Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Michelle Davis Goza of Canton; sons, Cole (Allie) Goza of Gluckstadt, MS. and Drew Goza; mother, Beverly Goza of Canton, MS; sisters, Diane Goza of Dallas, TX and Kathryn Irving of Canton, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     Memorials may be made to Canton Academy and First United Methodist Church.
