Sara Lee Brantley passed away at home on January 24th, 2020. She was born on February 11, 1951 at Fort Dix, NJ to Iona and Lawrence Young. Sara was the oldest of seven. Sara married Michael Brantley August 26th, 1971 and they had two children. Sara had a passion for teaching and formally taught home economics and later helped tutor students. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a voracious reader and would start everyday by reading the daily guidepost. Sara was strong in her faith and enjoyed attending church. She had a love for traveling, especially cruises.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years Mike Brantley; siblings Linda, Larry, Laura, Nelson, and Paul. She is also survived by her children Michael (Maura) and Shannon (Justin) and four grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents and sister Nancy. A celebration of Sara’s life will be held on Saturday, February 15th, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Forest Grove Presbyterian Church in Carthage, MS.
In honor of Sara, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Ovarian Cancer Research Fund at the University of Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center.
