William Dinkins Sr. Obituary

William Woodruff Dinkins, Sr., 85, of Canton, MS passed away peacefully August 6, 2021. He was a native of Canton, born August 3, 1936 to Tiny Crum Woodruff Dinkins Luter and Theo Hamilton Dinkins, Sr.

He was known as Big Bill to his family and friends and married 67 years to Nina Sandidge on May 29, 1955.

He was a graduate of Canton High School, attended Mississippi State University, completing his education in geology at the University of Southern Mississippi. He worked as a petroleum landman until retirement in 1996.

Bill was an avid woodsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and every aspect of nature.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tiny Crum Woodruff Dinkins Luter, Theo Hamilton Dinkins, Sr., and; brother, Theo Hamilton Dinkins, Jr., and; stepfather, James J. Luter.

He is survived by his wife, Nina Sandidge Dinkins; son William Woodruff Dinkins, Jr. (Laurie); daughter, Tiny Lois Dinkins Roebuck (Jeff); two granddaughters, Rebecca Elaine Dinkins and Cameron Rhymes Roebuck; and great-grandson, Axton Walker Hamilton.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Monday August 9, 2021 at Canton Cemetery.
