William E. "Billy" Earnhart II

Loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and coach to many has passed after a continued battle with cancer on November 2, 2024.

Born on March 15, 1941 to Slim and Mildred Earnhart in Jackson, MS, Billy was the second oldest of 5 children. Two sisters, Louise and Jannie, two brothers Bobby and Cliff. Growing up he stood out as a star athlete, primarily in baseball. He excelled first at Provine High School in Jackson MS,  then playing for the Mississippi College Choctaws, he was inducted into the MC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.  His love of the game would drive his 50 plus  year career as teacher, coach, MLB Scout, high school and college basketball official  and mentor to many others. The lives he impacted went well beyond Sports. Billy was loved and respected by the many students, players, coaches and colleagues who knew him, none more so than by his family.

His life is now best reflected in those he leaves behind. As husband, father, grandfather, and great grand father, his example and spirit will be lived out by his continuing generations, those who have been the closet recipients of his wisdom, love and example.

A memorial service will be held at Breeland Funeral Home, Canton MS. Monday November 11. Visitation 10am-12pm. Service 12pm

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baptist Homes – Son Valley, Canton MS, in memory of Clifton Lee Earnhart.
